Portfolio for Handy man and building services by Frank Etheridge
A complete internal renovation on a 1950's property.
The original living room when the house was first on the market.
The living room has been completely stripped back. We installed a set of sliding doors to replace the rear window. Plastered all walls and ceiling. Replace the lighting and moved sockets.
A new door was fitted with new skirting and achitrave. Painted all round and new carpets fitted.
This is the original kitchen. It only had a sink unit, a wall cupboard and 1 base unit. There was also a larder cupboard that was pulled out.
This is the original wooden kitchen / back door.
The original stand alone kitchen sink with just a cupboard beneath. No worktops anywhere in the original kitchen.
The corner of the new kitchen was where the larder cupboard was with a small window. We have plastered the room completely, installed the new kitchen and worktops with matching splash back and upstand.
Here we have installed a new built in cooker, touch screen hob and stainless steel hood. All the appliances in the kitchen are built in ie- washing maching and dish washer.
The units to the right of the sink are the washing machine and dishwasher. WE have re-run lots of the pipe work and cabling to suit the new positions of the appliances and sink.
We allowed space for a new fridge freezer and installed a new pvc back door. The floor tiling was also laid by ourselves. Other works we completed were under cupboard lighting, recessed ceiling lights and a speaker system running through the house. The kitchen has 2 speakers abover the cupboards controlled in the lounge.
The original hallway and bottom of the staircase with the old solid panelled bannister.
The original wooden front door, hallway and space uner the stairs.
We have laid laminate flooring in the hall way and re-plastered all walls and ceiling. New recessed lighting through out the hall and landing.
We installed a new pvc front door
Under the stairs we built a new wall with door to form a large cupboard and also hid the gas meter.
A picture of the original bathroom. There was only a bath and sink downstairs whilst the toilet was upstairs.
We moved some of the plumbing around to suit the new positioning of sinks etc. We also blocked up the window as the shower would be blocking most of the window.
The new bathroom has been completely turned around. We have tiled the the floor and walls. Boxed in all the pipes. Installed a new toilet, sink and walk in shower unit. We changed the radiator for a new towel rail. THe lighting has also been updated to recessed units in the ceiling.
This is the old toilet upstairs just sat in all I can describe as a cupboard. Very unhygenic given you have to walk downstairs to wash your hands.
A shot of the stairs and panelled hand rail.
Another shot of the landing and stairs.
WE removed the toilet cupboard and opened up the landing giving so much natural light in to the space. We removed the panelled hand rail and replaced it with a balustrade using chamferred spindles and posts.
The stairs were repaired and re-carpeted. All plastered and painted. The loft hatch was moved from the landing to the small bedroom as the access in to the loft was very small.
